By now you know that I’m not always 100% on top of my game. You’ve seen me on IG Live in my jammies, heard my potty training stories (sorry!), and read my heart poured out here in our e-mails.
I often share how much fun I’m having at my market events, but do you want the truth? Sometimes, behind the instagrammable moment is a whole lot of struggle. We all have off days and sometimes I don’t sell much at a market. I’ll feel like a loser, a fraud. I’ll want to quit, or at least give everyone the stank-eye all day.
But I want to let you in on a little secret for instant victory in these moments: Generosity. When I’m feeling like God isn’t giving me good enough gifts, one of the best acts of faith for me is to give a gift out of my poverty. On a slow Farmer’s Market day, as disappointment and bitterness creep in, I’ll often ask God who needs encouragement that day.
Of course, my first prayer is “Jesus, I trust you.” Then I move into “Who needs a fresh dose of new life today?” And I keep my eyes open and see watch God on the move. Whether it’s free jewelry, a smile, an encouraging word, or a coffee on me, that little act of kindness takes my eyes off my own bitterness and puts them back on my kind, generous God.
Giving out of our poverty is a beautiful transformative act, because it reminds us that we are His. It’s our bodies teaching our souls that in Christ, we have all we need. We’ve already got abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine, because God has wiped our sin and brokenness away on the Cross. And He has promised to provide every need for us in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:19).
So let’s do this! What’s one way you can move forward in generosity today? Some ideas: Forgiving a friend when they haven’t apologized, spending extra time reading to your kids, remembering to pray for that friend you promised prayers for, going out of your way to send an encouraging text, giving away your gently used items to a friend in need.
Want to know what MINE is? A GIVEAWAY FOR YOU! Just by being on this e-mail list, you’re entered to win a Mountain Mover Cuff. I’ll give all our friends a chance to enter, then announce the winner next FRIDAY.
Praying abundance over you today,
